John Henry Folsom

John Henry Folsom, 85, of Adel, passed away Jan. 24, 2016, at Cook Senior Living Center in Adel. He was born Dec. 25, 1930, in Adel to his late parents, Acy Clifford Folsom and Lula Mae Erskine Folsom. 

He retired from Folsom’s Garage where he served as the owner and operator, served formerly on the City Council of Adel for 40 years, had been a volunteer firefighter for 25 years, and was a member of Gregg’s Baptist Church.

Mr. Folsom is survived by his wife, Peggy Shiflett Folsom of Adel; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Joy Folsom of Adel; a daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Clay Dorminey of Adel; eight grandchildren, Hunter Folsom, Hudson Folsom, Hannah Folsom, Reese Akins, Acy Dorminey (all of Adel), Alex Dorminey and McKenna Dorminey (both of Fitzgerald, Ga.), Carah Dorminey of Lakeland, Ga., and Brandon Dorminey of Tennessee; a brother, Eugene Folsom of Crestview, Fla.; and a sister, Odell Pope of Adel. 

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Billie Jean Folsom; and two sisters, Laverne Giddens and Blanche Smith.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Adel with the Rev. Dillard Ensley, the Rev. Brian Gay and Jerry Permenter officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., in Adel.
