Jack E. Carr Jr.
VALDOSTA — Jack E. Carr Jr., 45, of Valdosta, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at South Georgia Medical Center after a sudden illness. He was born in Jamestown, N.Y., and had lived in Valdosta for the past 13 years. He retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service and was working with the Department of Corrections with the Georgia State Prison. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Carson Shane Roberts, and a sister, Denise Carr.
Survivors include his wife, Cecelia Carr, Valdosta; four daughters, Kathryn Carr, Dawn Carr, Melanie Carr and Jessica Carr, all of Valdosta; five sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Shannon Carr III, N.D., Daniel and Leighann Carr, Valdosta, Joshua Carr, Valdosta, Michael Carr, Valdosta and Phillip Carr of Valdosta; two grandchildren, Dylan Carr and Brianna Carr; his father and mother, Jack E. and Kathryn Carr, Ray City; a brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Julia Carr, Lynchburg; and a number of uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, in the Valdosta chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial following in Riverview Memorial Garden Cemetery. Louise White
VALDOSTA — Louise White, 87, of Valdosta, died on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, in Valdosta. A native of Columbus, Mrs. White had lived in Valdosta for the last 30 years. She was a member of Christ the King Episcopal Church and, until her retirement, was a minister in the Assemblies of God for 46 years.
Mrs. White is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Tommy Franklin, of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; a son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Jimmy and Anne White, of Valdosta; three grandsons and their spouses, The Very Rev. Stanley J. White and Deidra, of Valdosta, The Rev. Michael S. White and Helen, of Durham, N.C., Capt. Tommy D. Franklin Jr. and Molly Montgomery, Ala.; and a granddaughter and her spouse, Cindy and Jim Eiland, of Pensacola, Fla. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren, Sarah, Skyler, Nicholas and Isabella White, Ethan and Jay White, Karl Bond, and Andrew and Heather Franklin; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Joseph A. White, a sister, Helen Lovett, and two brothers, Thomas Reed and Jennings Reed.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home in Valdosta. A graveside committal will be held in Columbus at Evergreen Memory Garden, on Tuesday at 4 p.m. The Very Rev. Stanley J. White, Rector of Christ the King Episcopal Church in Valdosta, and The Rev. Michael S. White, Rector of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Durham, N.C., will officiate the services. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6-8 p.m. — Carson McLane Funeral Home
John S. Hendrick, 85, of Jasper, Fla. passed away early Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at South Georgia Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at Midway Baptist Church in Lafayette County. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. — Harry T. Reid Funeral Home, Jasper, Fla.
Yates McDade, 89, Lake Park died Saturday at the Lakehaven Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home.
Sylvia Ford Pierce, 61, of Adel, died Saturday in the memorial hospital of Adel. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Lovein Funeral Home, Nashville.
