ATLANTA — Each year, income tax season brings an influx of customers to reinstate their driving privileges using their refunds at the Department of Driver Services, according to state officials.

DDS Commissioner Bert Brantley is reminding reinstatement customers of a way to save time — the Agency’s Online License Reinstatement Services available at www.dds.ga.gov.

“Online reinstatement enables customers to check their driving reinstatement eligibility, view, print or email a list of their specific reinstatement requirements, pay fees and reinstate driving privileges online — all without a visit or telephone call to DDS,” said Brantley.

Eligible customers may request that a free replacement of their original license be mailed directly to them. The license will be mailed within 7-10 business days eliminating the need to visit the DDS in person, officials said in a press release.

“The license reinstatement process is the most time consuming transaction for our team members,” said Commissioner Brantley. “Having customers choose to reinstate and request a free replacement license online will directly affect the wait times at DDS customer service centers.”

DDS said in the news release that the department continues to develop mobile options to provide all customers access to multiple licensing services. In addition to reinstating a license, customers can request an address change, replace a lost license and/or obtain a copy of their driving history online.
