VALDOSTA – “I saw a photo of Jerry Lee Lewis in Valdosta and thought, ‘Well, if it’s good enough for Jerry Lee…’”

Following in Lewis’ footsteps, Nick Loss-Eaton and his band Leland Sundries will make their way to Valdosta June 21.

Since releasing their first EP in 2010, Leland Sundries has seen a few different backing members, but Loss-Eaton remains the staple for the project.

Although the band may be out of New York, Loss-Eaton expressed a deep love of the South and attributes the band’s name to a magical afternoon spent in Leland, Miss.

As time progressed, Loss-Eaton carried on his sound, handling all the punches life has to throw, including an emergency open-heart surgery.

“I had to be grateful for every moment I had after that,” said Loss-Eaton. “I’d be in the studio recording and we’d be doing like the fifth take and I’d sort of stop and be like, ‘You know we get to be alive and we get to keep doing this.’ I think there were a lot of moments like that.”

The latest album, “Music for Outcasts,” dropped last week.

“I think there was sort of a shift on this album,” said Loss-Eaton. “It’s exuberant rock and roll. I wanted to make a record where I could play it live with a lot of energy and a lot of focus on what’s going on in the moment.”

Leland Sundries will take the stage June 21 at Ashley Street Station, 607 Baytree Road. Also performing will be SiN and Kyle Keller. Cover will be $5.

Leland Sundries’ music can be found on all platforms including iTunes, Amazon and Bandcamp.
