DALTON, Ga. — Karel Vercruyssen has stepped down as CEO of Beaulieu America after three years in that position, according to a company press release.
“We wish Mr. Vercruyssen great success on all of his future endeavors. His years of service to our family and his dedication to the continued success of Beaulieu was highly valued,” said Carl Bouckaert, owner of Beaulieu America.
Based in Dalton, Beaulieu America manufactures and distributes carpet, engineered hardwood, laminate and luxury vinyl flooring.
Michael Pollard, president of Beaulieu America, said there are no immediate plans to fill the CEO position.
“We have a very active and experienced board, and we have really been acting as a management committee anyway,” he said. “We’ve got a really collaborative structure, with everyone pulling in the same direction. As the needs of the business change, we may change that structure, but this is the way we have been operating, and we feel it is the best way at this time.”
Pollard praised Vercruyssen’s contributions to the company and said officials are confident in the company’s future.
“We’ve got a lot of positive things going on. We are positioning the company to thrive for years to come,” Pollard said.
In April, officials announced they would be restructuring the company to enhance its competitiveness, and would be cutting some 6 to 8 percent of its more than 4,000-person workforce through attrition.
Vercruyssen became CEO in 2014 after Ralph Boe retired. Vercruyssen had served as CEO of Beaulieu Canada, Beaulieu America’s sister company, since 2007.
