Upon arrival, she spoke with the offender, Jacobie Shanard Hamilton, who said he and a friend were shooting at one another with high-powered BB pistols when the female victim, age 20, got in the way and was struck by one of the BBs.
Faircloth then spoke with the victim who said she kept hearing the BBs fly back and forth at the back of her residence. She stepped around the back to tell the subjects to stop because there were a lot of kids out playing and they could get hurt.
The woman said after she told Hamilton this, he looked at her, pointed the gun directly at her and shot her in the face, under her left eye, which was bleeding. The BB was still under her skin. The woman was transported to Tift Regional Medical Center to have it removed.
Several neighbors reported that Hamilton had been running around shooting the BB gun everywhere. Faircloth noted when she arrived on the scene, there were at least 20 children playing in the yards.
According to the report, Hamilton said he threw the pistol under a tree in South College Circle Mobile Home Park. Faircloth searched the area but was unable to locate it.
Hamilton was arrested and transported to the Tift County Jail. He was charged with aggravated assault and reckless conduct.
