Suwannee boys and girls cross country advance to regional race

The Suwannee cross country teams both finished district runner-up.

CRAWFORDVILLE — Both Suwannee High School cross country teams took second place at the district race on Tuesday and advanced to the regional race on Friday, Oct. 28 in Pensacola. 

Boys team scores: Wakulla 24, Suwannee 55, Rickards 80, Marianna 102, Florida High 107 and Godby inc.

Girls team scores: Florida High 40, Suwannee 62, Wakulla 67, Rickards 70, Marianna 123 and Godby inc.

Suwannee’s Tim Choe was the individual district champion with a 40 second margin over the second place finisher. Micah Hilliard placed fourth, Ricardo Cruz 12th, Brenden Richard 23rd, Jose Nonthe 24th, Joey Collazo 26th, Ben Stavig 30th, and Trent King 37th.

This group of Suwannee boys improved the team average time by 27 seconds over last year’s group.

The Suwannee girls moved from third place in the district last year to second place this year. Alexis Thompson placed sixth, Natalie Lord 11th, Courtney Sasso 15th, Kelsey Middleton 16th, Zoey Layton 18th, Sierra Cyprian 19th, Vicry Cruz 20th, Weslyn Paget 28th, Emelia Rodriguez 29th, and Luna Rodriguez 31st.

This group of Suwannee girls improved the team average time by more than 30 seconds over last year’s group.
