James Gregory ‘Jim’ Fitchjarrell

VALDOSTA — James Gregory “Jim” Fitchjarrell, 41, died on Sunday, May 26, 2002, at his home in Valdosta. Born in Sumter, S.C., on March 9, 1961, he was the son of John Wesley and Patricia Mattie Ray Fitchjarrell. Formerly of Atlanta, he had lived in Valdosta since 1972. He was a Navy veteran and worked as a commercial construction carpenter. Survivors are his wife, Robin of Valdosta; a daughter, Brittany Ann of Lake Park; mother, Patricia Ray Fitchjarrell of Douglasville; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Tod Edwards of Valdosta; brother and sister-in-law, John and Wendy Fitchjarrell; and niece, Emily Ann Fitchjarrell, all of Marietta. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday in Statenville Cemetery. Bishop H.E. Cardin of Macon will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m.- noon Friday at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. — Carson McLane Funeral Home



Lena I. Flowers

HAHIRA — Lena I. Flowers, 78, of Hahira, died May 27, 2002, at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman. She was born on Aug. 3, 1923, in Anderson, S.C., to the late William Frank and Mrytie Brannon Patterson. She was a member of Adel Church of God. She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Joseph E. Flowers of Hahira whom she was married to for 58 years; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Barbara Flowers, Panama City, Fla., David and Sharon Flowers, Gulfport, Miss., Randy Flowers, Hawaii; one daughter and son-in-law, Winona and Lamar Clements, Hahira; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill Patterson, Travelers Rest, S.C., Frank Patterson, Iva, S.C.; five sisters, Margie Stone, Seneca, S.C., Joyce Kinseleyson, Elizabethton, Tenn., Shirley James, Jesup, Mary Wilson, Waycross, and Glenda Robinson, Patterson. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Adel Church of God with the Rev. Carlton Ring, the Rev. Fred James and the Rev. Tracy Swanson officiating. Winnie B. Prescott

STATENVILLE — Winnie B. Prescott, 84, of Statenville, died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at Fellowship Home. She was born on Sept. 8, 1917, in Statenville to the late Joel Hooks and Julia Maude Fletcher Prescott and was a lifelong resident of Statenville. Miss Prescott was retired as co-executive director of the Department of Agriculture and Conservation Service and was a member of the Statenville United Methodist Church. Miss Prescott is survived by a host of friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Statenville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Sauls, the Rev. Scott McVey and the Rev. Fred Foster officiating. Burial will follow in the Statenville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. today at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park. — McLane Lakewood Funeral Home



Dorothy L. Mullis, 65, of Valdosta, passed away Sunday evening, May 26, 2002, at her residence. She was born in Colquitt County and had lived in Valdosta most of her life. She was a member of China Grove Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. today in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with the family receiving friends following the services at the funeral home.
