LIVE OAK — The Live Oak Garden Club hosted its Fall District III meeting of the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs (FFGC) at St. Francis Church’s social hall.
Over 90 FFGC members attended the meeting.
Sonny Nobles, mayor of Live Oak, welcomed the members to Live Oak, and thanked the garden club members for their efforts to encourage and foster gardening, teach floral design and horticulture and protect our environment.
Lucille Heinrich, District III director, welcomed Arlene Rand, Florida state president of FFGC, along with president-elect Claudia Bates and vice-presidents Al Latina and Marjorie Hendon.
Rand praised the members of District III for their financial support of the summer camp for children and also for sending volunteers to help at the camp located at Wekiva State Park in Longwood.
Over 600 campers attended the camp this summer.
The meeting included presentations from the state officers and club reports from the seven garden clubs that make up District III. Live Oak Garden Club President Dana Darby thanked all the members of the Live Oak Club for the lovely fall decorations, table favors and the delicious brunch and luncheon that was served during the meeting.
