MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — Local authorities have arrested three suspects in connection with separate criminal cases — one involving a shooting and the other a statutory rape case, The Union-Recorder has learned.

Though the cases are not connected in any way, one of the young men arrested is charged as a suspect in both of the cases, according to local authorities.

Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Detectives Greg See and Thomas “T.J.” Hargrove identified the suspects in the shooting case as Contrell Charles Webb, 19; and Larkeeson Brown, 17, both of Milledgeville.

Webb is charged with one count of aggravated assault, See said. The suspect also has been charged with statutory rape in connection with a case involving a 15-year-old girl, Hargrove said.

Detectives said the two cases are not related except that one of the men arrested is a suspect in both the shooting case and the sex crime.

Additional arrests and charges are forthcoming in the shooting case, detectives said.

Another suspect, Altavis Wright, 19, of Milledgeville, also was charged with statutory rape, Hargrove said.

Brown, meanwhile, was charged with pointing a pistol at another and possession of a firearm by a person under the age of 18, See said.

After the arrests were made, including the latest one that happened Thursday morning, the suspects were taken to the Baldwin County Law Enforcement Center and jailed.

Two of the suspects are charged in connection with a shooting that happened at the intersection of First and Luhaven streets, between 6:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. on Sept. 19. It followed separate fights at Baldwin High School earlier that same day, detectives said.

“There [were] actually two fights at Baldwin High School — one in the cafeteria and one in a hallway,” See said. “Then there was a subsequent fight after school on Park Avenue.”

See said the fight happened earlier at that same intersection, just prior to the shooting.

“Everybody was kinda in a semicircle around a ditch when the fight took place at the intersection,” See said.

Detectives said they had heard the fights were for different reasons, but involved two different local gangs, known as The MOB, a reported southside gang; and The BREW, described as a new upcoming northside gang.

“What we do know is that the shooting happened after a one-on-one fight between two gang members,” Hargrove said. “Although we don’t know the actual reason for the fights, we do know that the shooting was as a result of the previous fights between these two gangs.”

Detectives said they had conducted more than a dozen interviews in the shooting case and completed what they called a thorough investigation.

The last fight led to a 15-year-old high school student being wounded  – shot once in the thigh and a graze wound across his forehead. He still is reportedly recovering from those injuries.

“It was definitely going to be a gang fight,” See said. “But once they get down there, they agree to a one-on-one confrontation.”

Hargrove explained that because one of the gangs was larger than the other, they agreed to a one-on-one confrontation between one of the gang members from each side.

“Gang members from both sides were standing all around making sure it was going to be a fair fight,” Hargrove said.

One of the teens involved in the fight was a brother to the wounded teen.

The fights and subsequent shooting of the teen came exactly two weeks after the victim’s older brother, Deandre “Ricky” Bolston, was shot to death at The Milledgeville Manor Apartments.

Larkesseon Brown, 17, later allegedly took out a handgun and pointed it at the head of one of those involved in the one-on-one fight, according to authorities.

“He tells him to get off his homeboy or person on his side, and then starts waving the pistol at the other group,” See said. “At that point in time, the parties (groups) separated.”

Hargrove pointed out the Facebook messages between members of both gangs had indicated they were going to have a confrontation before it ever happened.

Some of The MOB gang members showed up in a black four-door truck, See said, based on information learned from members of The MOB gang.

Members of both gangs later met up again, which is when the shooting happened and one of Deandre Bolston’s brothers was wounded.
