VALDOSTA — A fire at a condominium complex caused light damage but no injuries Monday, according to fire department personnel.
Firefighters received a call about a blaze at Sweetbriar Condominiums, 2406 Bemiss Road, at 2:56 p.m., and the first fire trucks arrived on the scene at 3:01 p.m., said Lt. Justin Ply of the Valdosta Fire Department.

The blaze turned out to be a grass fire which caused light damage to some of the condo units, he said.
No one was injured and the condos were still livable, Ply said.
Due to weeks-long drought conditions, Lowndes County was in “extreme fire danger” during the weekend, said Stephen Spradley, the Georgia Forestry Commission’s chief ranger for Echols, Lanier and Lowndes counties.
