George Eddie Brogdon
George Eddie Brogdon, 58, of Lenox, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, at his residence. He was born on Nov. 4, 1947, in Lanier County to the late John Cauley Brogdon and Nellie Vinning. He was a truck driver and attended Nashville Holiness Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mae McLeod Brogdon of Lenox; two stepdaughters, Shelia Wilson of Fulton, Ky., and Martha Ellen Sellars of Lenox; one son, George Eddie Brogdon II of Lenox; two sisters, Mamie Nell Gray of Nashville and Grace Dodd of Lakeland; four brothers, Wesley Brogdon of Ootewah, Tenn., William Brogdon of Lakeland, Terry Brogdon of Nashville and Johnny Dodd of Alapaha; and six grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at Guthrie Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Smith officiating. Interment to follow at Guthrie Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday after 2 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. — Lovein Funeral Home, Nashville.
Lakeland
Molly Idelle Lee Carter
Molly Idelle Lee Carter, 86, of Lakeland, passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, in Waynesboro after a lengthy illness. She was born and had lived in Lanier County all of her life. After graduating from Lanier County High School, she continued her education at the Georgia Normal Women’s College, which is now Valdosta State University, where she graduated. She completed her post graduate work,at Valdosta State College. She taught fifth-grade science in Naylor and Lakeland for 32 years before her retirement in 1983.
Most students remembered her for bringing live experiments into class which she used in completing her lesson. She had a unique love for nature, especially plants and animals. She enjoyed being a member of the Lanier County Retired Teachers Association and attended their various functions.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank L. Carter; parents, William David Lee and Molly Clements, all of Lanier County; a brother, five sisters and a five-year-old daughter, Carol Lee Carter.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Carter-Gray of Fernandina Beach, Fla. and Karen Carter Abbott of Adel; one son, Frank L. Carter Jr. of Waynesboro; two grandchildren, Kelly and Frank L. “Tripp” Carter III; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial following in the Beaver Dam Cemetery in Ray City. Odis C. Bryan, 81, of Adel died Nov. 26, 2005, at Memorial Hospital of Adel. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005 at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. R. T.
