VALDOSTA — Authorities have confirmed an inmate died at Valdosta State Prison Friday, Dec. 9.

The inmate’s name was Robert Hughes, said Gwendolyn Hogan, spokesman for the Georgia Department of Corrections.

The department is not discussing details of the incident because it is still under investigation, she said.
