Linda DeShazo Adicks

APOPKA, Fla. — Linda DeShazo Adicks, 62, of Apopka, Fla., passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2003 at Tandem Healthcare following an extended illness. The Dyer, Tennessee native was a homemaker and will be remembered as a a loving wife and mother.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Michael Adicks, Apopka; two sons, Kent Adicks (Elizabeth), Atlanta and Kyle Adicks (Heather), Seattle, Wash.; one daughter, Lori Posner (Robert), Apopka, Fla.; her mother, Virginia DeShazo, Ft. Myers, Fla.; two brothers, Steve DeShazo (Nancy) and David DeShazo (Laura), all of Ft. Myers; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eugene and Helen Adicks, Jasper, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Jordan and Jason Adicks.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 21, 2003 in Evergreen Cemetery, Jasper, Fla. The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home in Jasper just prior to the service.

Kenneth Wayne Alderman

VALDOSTA — Kenneth Wayne Alderman of Valdosta died Tuesday, July 15, 2003 at South Georgia Medical Center.

Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2003 at Luke Strong and Son Chapel with Pastor Wade McCrae officiating. Burial will be held in Strong Memorial Garden. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

He was a veteran of the Army and was employed at Beef O’Brady and Ryan Restaurant.

He is survived by his mother, Christine Strong Alderman of Moultrie; son, Chiron D. Alderman and his mother, Eva Alderman of Cleveland, Ohio; brothers, Willie F. Alderman, Jr. and Janice and Stanley B. Alderman; sister, Katrina Alderman Royal, all of Valdosta; nephews, Eric Alderman, Alexander Alderman and Courtney Alderman; nieces, Tra-Shonda Herring and Kristin Royal.

Jimmie Clay Brown

MADISON, Fla. — Jimmie Clay Brown, 61, of Madison, Fla., died Monday, July 14, 2003, in Valdosta.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., today at the Beggs Funeral Home Madison Chapel, Madison. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery, Madison County, Fla.

He was born in Wilder, Morgan County, Tenn. He had lived in Madison for the past 22 years. He was operation manager with United Rentals in Valdosta.

He is survived by his wife, Mae Brown of Madison; three sons, Ricky Brown of Lincoln Park, Mich., Tommy Brown of Detroit, Mich., and Christopher Clay Brown of Madison; one stepson, Joe Jennings of Madison.; one daughter, Marsha Webb of Lincoln Park, Mich.; one stepdaughter, Theresa Jennings of Madison; three brothers, James Brown, Ray Brown and Claude Brown; seven grandchildren, Little Joe, Alyssa, Taylor, Leann, Devin, Ethan, Kayla; and many other loved ones.

He left this earth to join his mother, Vider and father, Henry, as well as his brother, Charles and sister, Betty Jean and grandson Cameron. May you rest in peace, we love you. — Beggs Funeral Home Madison Chapel, Madison



Elizabeth Walker Copeland

DASHER– Mrs. Elizabeth Walker Copeland, 90, of Dasher, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2003. She was born March 21, 1913 in Hazel, Ky. the second of six children born to Charles C. and Azzie E. Walker. She was married July 6, 1941 to James Roy Copeland, who predeceased her.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Copeland Cozort (Glen D. Miller), and her son James W. Copeland and his wife, Martha M. Copeland. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Stacy Copeland Cardin and her husband Jack C. Cardin and Neal W. Copeland; two great-grandchildren, Ashley Elizabeth Cardin and James Hunter Cardin. She is also survived by two sisters, Nelle W. Scroggins of Clarksville, Tenn. and Anne W. Brinkley and her husband John W. Brinkley of Hazel, Ky., sister-in-law Faustine Walker of Murray, Ky., a brother-in-law Charles E. Copeland and his wife Annette, of Dasher. She remained close to her 14 nieces and nephews, and their children. She also received love, care and attention from six step-grandchildren and their families.

Mrs. Copeland was an alumnus of Murray State University, Murray, Ky., and retired after 42 years of teaching, beginning in Kentucky, and continuing at Dasher Bible School and Pine Grove and Lake Park Elementary Schools in Lowndes County. She was a member of the Forrest Park Church of Christ.

She stayed active attending church services and weekly Bible Class at Forrest Park Church of Christ, enjoying her flowers and hand quilting. She genuinely enjoyed giving her hand-made quilts to others.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2003 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with burial in the Dasher Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 6-8 p.m. at Carson McLane Funeral Home. Verna Lou Fine

LAKE PARK — Verna Lou Fine, 83, of Lake Park, died Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at South Georgia Medical Center after a sudden illness. Born in Cullman Co., Ala., Mrs. Fine was formerly from Homestead Fla. and had lived in this area since 1995. She was a homemaker and a member of the Loch Laurel Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gary and Ronnie Fine, Cherry Lake Fla., John Fine of Homestead Fla.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Veda and John Keglor of Lake Park, Marlibby Fine, Lake Park; seven grandchildren, Jamie Fine Andrews, Jackie Keglor Futch, Bonnie Sue Keglor, Crystal Fine, Jerrod Fine, Johnny Keglor, Sarah Fine; three great grandchildren, Kylie Andrews, Carrie Lynn Nieman, Tristin Fine; two sisters, Jewell Stover, Lake Park, Pete Laminack, Cullman Ala.; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Fine was preceded in death by her husband, George Hamilton Fine.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, 2 p.m., July 19, 2003 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. The. Rev. Milton Sellars, the Rev. Bob Ray, and the Rev. Ted Sauls will officiate. Richard W. Frontera Sr.

NAYLOR — Richard W. Frontera, Sr., 68, of Naylor, died on Monday, July 14, 2003 at his residence after a brief illness. He was born on Jan. 18, 1935 in Dunkirk, N.Y. to the late Sylvester and Leona Hennessey Frontera. Mr. Frontera was a Vietnam veteran who had served in the United States Air Force and was of the Protestant faith.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Frontera of Naylor, sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and JoAnn Frontera of Jefferson, Doug and Angelika Frontera of Naylor; one daughter, Ronna Anderson of Fitzgerald; four grandchildren, Joey Frontera of Atlanta, Elexis Frontera of Gainesville, Karen Snowden of Fitzgerald, Nic Griffis of Valdosta; one great-grandchild Tanner Bee Snowden of Fitzgerald; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Sally and Harvey Hiatt of Denver, Colo., Nina Frontera of Cory, Pa., Milly and Bob Gibson of Bath, Maine; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Bud and Jenney Frontera of Selida, Mo., David Frontera of Cory, Pa.; stepmother, Jo Frontera also of Cory, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother John Frontera.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2003, at the Westview Cemetery in Nashville with the Rev. Ross Hudson officiating. — Carson McLane Funeral Home



James L. Moore Jr.

JASPER, Fla. — LDCR James L. Moore, Jr., USN Retired, 77, of Jasper, Fla. passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at South Georgia Medical Center, Valdosta. Moore retired after 28 years in the aviation division of the United States Navy. He moved to the Jennings, Fla. area 15 years ago and was a member of Jennings Church of God.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Maude Johnson Moore, Jasper; one son, Jim Moore, Jasper; two daughters, Linda Marie McMinn, Bremerton, Wash. and Angela Gail Moore, Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandchildren, Sean and Scott Moore and Jim and Jason McMinn; four great-grandchildren, Kael Mullins, Keith Andrew McMinn, Katie Marie McMinn and Devin Moore.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2003 at Hebron Cemetery near Jasper. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. — Harry T. Reid Funeral Home, Jasper, Fla.



Ann Freeman Skibo

VIDOR, Texas– Memorial services for Ann Skibo, 83, of Vidor, Texas will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2003 at Old Faith Chapel Church in Vidor, Texas with the Rev. Jesse Wright officiating.

She died July 16, 2003 in Tyler, Texas. Local arrangements are under the direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home in Tyler, Texas.

Mrs. Skibo was born June 24, 1920 in Beaumont to the late W.M. and Angelina O’Quinn Gainer. She had lived in Vidor and Beaumont areas for over 25 years and had lived in Valdosta. She was a homemaker and a member of Old Faith Chapel. She is preceded in death by brothers, Bill Gainer and Elmo Gainer, sisters, Josephine Sarver, Alice Weaver, and Evelyn Bateman.

Mrs. Skibo is survived by a son, Wayne Warren Williams of Tyler; daughter, Joan Pallone of Panama City Beach, Fla.; brother, Henry “Hank” Gainer of Bay City, Texas; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
