Wally Moore of Street Sweepers, which has now merged with Universal Car Club and Po Boyz, and the South Georgia Classic Car Club came together to create the event for Citizens Against Violence.

“I’m former law enforcement and I’ve seen it getting worse as far as violence,” Moore said. “I’d love to reach out and help. I want to show people unity and love conquer all. We don’t need anyone in the community killing each other.”
The Rev. J.D. Martin, CEO of Citizens Against Violence, felt the car show would be a great way to get the word out to the community.
“It gives us a large audience to spread the word about violence,” Martin said. “We appreciate everyone. It’s not about race or gender, it’s about our community and making it better. Our organization doesn’t receive any funding, we rely on public contributions.”
The show brought a variety of cars to the Five Points Shopping Center, from George Hardy’s 1937 Dodge Business Coupe to Valdosta Police Department Sgt. J.B. Jones’ police car.
Many of the cars belong to members of the South Georgia Classic Car Club, which has roughly 50 members, according to participants. The club is known for helping raise money for different non-profits.
The car show will take place annually on the fourth Saturday in June.
