Arvell Hall
Mr. Arvell Hall, 69, of Hahira, died Feb. 19, 2006, at his residence after a short illness.
He was born on May 13, 1936, in Cook County to the late W.L. and Hattie Clanton Hall. He lived in Cook County all his life. He was a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Hall of Hahira; two sons, Travis Hall and Ricky Bennett, both of Hahira; three daughters; Sheila Fulp, Cecil, Gwen Bernard, Orlina, Tenn., Debbie Green, Cross Plains, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Leland Clanton, Hahira; one sister, Jewel Howard of Tallahassee, Fla. He was preceded in death by one brother, Leroy Clanton and one sister, Louise Wilkerson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006, at Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Thad Marshall and Elder Dwight Marshall officiating. Vivian L. Minton
Vivian L. Minton, 78 of Valdosta, died on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, at her residence.
Born on Sept. 11, 1927, in Tampa, Fla., she was the daughter of the late Robert Dake Leonard and Mildred Peavey Leonard McCall and the widow of James Franklin Minton, who died in 1969. She was a homemaker and a member of Benevolence Baptist Church.
Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Robert Moore of Virginia Beach, Va.; sons and daughter-in-law, Richard and Karen Minton of Biddeford, Maine, Kenneth Minton of Valdosta; grandchildren, Matthew Moore, Mark Moore both of Virginia Beach, Va., James Minton of Seattle, Wash., Katie Minton of Minneapolis, Minn.; great-granddaughter, Mina Amara Moore of Virginia Beach, Va. and a brother, Robert Leonard of Lake Park.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006, at Benevolence Baptist Church with the Rev. David Paulk officiating. Interment services will be held at a later date in Rosewood Memorial Gardens, Virginia Beach, Va. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Stella Rowland
Stella Rowland, 80 of Valdosta, died on Monday, Feb. 20, 2006, at Smith Northview Hospital after a short illness.
Born on March 10, 1925 in Greeleyville, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Dan L. and Mary Etta Browder Green. She retired after 30 years with the Valdosta Printing Company and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors are her husband, Coot Rowland of Valdosta; daughters and son-in-law, Ann and Earl Spurlock of Valdosta, Becky Woods of Ashland City, Tenn., Sue Jones of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; grandchildren, Lisa Hayden, Charlie Moon both of Valdosta, Jeff Fisk of Hahira, Missy Lewis of Mary Esther, Fla., Kim Moon of Nashville, Tenn., Suzanne Mintel of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Stacy Fisk Leddington, four sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Cannington officiating. Burial will follow in Redland Cemetery. Esavious Devon Wright
Esavious Devon Wright, 29, of Valdosta, passed away Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006.
Born Nov. 26, 1976, in Valdosta to Jim Henry “J.H.” and Nadine Wright, he was a 1995 graduate of Valdosta High School, a member of Graham’s Temple in Nashville and a barber at Pro-Cutz in Valdosta.
He leaves to mourn his passing but to cherish his memories his father, J.H. Wright; mother, Nadine Wright, both of Valdosta; two brothers, city councilman James Wright (Fannie) and Jim Tyrone Wright (Angela), all of Valdosta; four sisters, Veronise McGriff (James) of Snellville, Tangula Wright of Lithonia, Selena Adams (Michael) of Arlington, Va., and Tammy Harris (Barry) of Douglasville; uncles, O.W. Wright, Willie Wright (Beatrice), H.L. Wright (Patricia), Charles Haywood Wright (Sondra), Bobby Wright (Kay) Martin Wright (Mammie) and Earl Wright, all of Valdosta, Charles Wright (Gloria) and Robert Lee Eubanks, both of Ray City; aunts, Edna Mae Serman of Valdosta, Anna Banks of Naylor, Bishop Queen Polite, Missionary Lela Mae Solomon (Elder Horace, Sr.) and Estella Wright Berry, all of Ray City, Lucille Dickey of Dade City, Fla. and Naomi Wright of New York City, N.Y.; a special friend, Charlene Lane; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held at noon today, Feb. 21, 2006, at New Greater Union Ministries Church. Bishop-Elect Wade S. McCrae and pastor and Bishop Queen Polite will officiate. Burial will follow in the Charles Knight Cemetery. — Scott and Roberts Mortuary.
