VSU College of Arts and Sciences recognizes students

VALDOSTA —  The College of Arts and Sciences at Valdosta State University recently recognized 67 pure and applied sciences, humanities, social sciences, and interdisciplinary programs students for outstanding achievement during the 2016-2017 academic year.

Alisa Pappas of Valdosta earned the Outstanding Student in Philosophy Award from the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies.

Ashlie Prain of Valdosta earned the Anthropology Scholarship Award from the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice.

Anna Carter of Hahira earned the English Department Undergraduate Scholarship from the Department of English.

Austin Baggett of Valdosta earned the Outstanding Computer Information Systems Student Award from the Department of Computer Science. This award is sponsored by Nexxtep.

Audrey Whittle of Adel earned the Carol Locust Academic Achievement Award from the Native American Studies Program.

Brittany McFarland of Valdosta earned the Mack Varnedoe Greer Sr. M.D. Scholarship from the Department of Biology.

Brenton Dasher of Valdosta earned the English Graduate Scholarship from the Department of English.

Caleb Douglas of Stockton earned the Dale Peoples Scholarship and the William Gabbard Scholarship from the Department of History.

Dan Nix of Nashville earned the Outstanding Student in Philosophy and Religious Studies Award from the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies.

Evan Turner of Valdosta earned the William Gabbard Scholarship from the Department of History.

Gabriel Burns of Valdosta earned the Charles J. Miller Award for Journalistic Excellence from the Department of English.

Gabrielle Collins of Valdosta earned the Harold Gulliver Award from the Department of English.

Hanna-Gio Hansberry of Valdosta earned the Outstanding Student in Modern and Classical Languages Award from the Department of Modern and Classical Languages.

Joseph Bell of Adel earned the Lamar Pearson Scholarship from the Department of History.

Jessica Lamb of Adel earned the William Gabbard Scholarship from the Department of History. She also earned the Excellence in French for a Student Minoring in French Award from the Department of Modern and Classical Languages.

John Exum of Nashville earned the Excellence in Spanish Book Award from the Department of Modern and Classical Languages.

Lisa Garcia of Valdosta earned the Outstanding Student Award from the Interdisciplinary Studies Program.

Mehvish Durrani of Valdosta earned the Martha H. Barnes Scholarship from the Department of Biology.

Pavan Patel of Valdsota earned the Biology Senior Award, the David and Cecilia Ratcliffe Scholarship, and the Martha H. Barnes Scholarship from the Department of Biology.

Richard Parker of Hahira earned the Graduate Award from the Department of English.

Stone Sirmans of Nashville earned the David Winder Best Paper Award in Political Science from the Department of Political Science.

Sean Jankowski of Valdosta earned the William M. Morrow Award from the Department of Political Science.

Steven Moore of Adel earned the Outstanding Computer Science Student Award from the Department of Computer Science. This award is sponsored by VSU’s Division of Information Technology.

Summer Bryant of Lenox earned the Martha H. Barnes Scholarship from the Department of Biology.

Tera Ray of Valdosta earned the William Gabbard Scholarship from the Department of History.

Taylor Vinge of Valdosta earned the Martha H. Barnes Scholarship from the Department of Biology.

Tynisha Bledsoe of Valdosta earned the Claydon H. Barron Scholarship from the African American Studies Program.

Tara O’Steen of Valdosta earned the William Gabbard Scholarship from the Department of History.

William Blair of Quitman earned the Martha H. Barnes Scholarship from the Department of Biology.

William Ryder of Valdosta earned the Raymond Register Award from the Department of English.

 

VSU Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business recognizes students

VALDOSTA —  The Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration at Valdosta State University recently recognized 10 accounting, economics, finance, healthcare administration, international business, management, marketing, and business leadership students for outstanding achievement during the 2016-2017 academic year.

Andrew Sumner of Ray City earned the Outstanding Senior Management Major Award from the Department of Management and Healtcare Administration.

David Hanna of Valdosta earned the Outstanding Senior Accounting Major Award and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants Academic Excellence Award from the Department of Accounting.

Kara Buescher of Valdosta earned the Outstanding Master of Business Administration Student Award from the Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration.

Noah Coil of Lake Park earned the Outstanding Senior International Business Major Award from the Department of Marketing and International Business.

Shannon Corbitt of Valdosta earned the Outstanding Master of Accountancy Student Award from the Department of Accounting.

 

Vietas named to Simmons College Deans List

BOSTON, Mass. — Cassandra Vietas, of Valdosta was named to the 2017 spring semester deans list at Simmons College in Boston, Mass.

To qualify for deans list status, undergraduate students must obtain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
