LIVE OAK — The Suwannee County School Board received an update on the summer projects for the school cafeterias at the Tuesday’s budget meeting. There were two main projects being worked on over the summer.

The first was the Branford High School kitchen being renovated for the first time, as well as the school’s science labs having new ducts placed in the ceiling. Mark Carver, Director of Facilities, is confident the kitchen renovations will be done in the next three weeks before the staff will be returning to work. The cafeteria will also be redone, with the bathrooms being renovated and the walls being painted.

There was a list of minor projects as well from BHS scraping off the paint of their walkway awnings and then repainting them. BHS is also receiving a new senior dining area. As well as the Branford Elementary School cafeteria is also being painted.

Suwannee High School, Suwannee Elementary School and Suwannee Intermediate School also have their cafeterias being painted.

The SIS cafeteria is now purple which led board member, Jerry Taylor to joke, “our children, by the time they get to Suwannee Middle/High School, they won’t know what the school colors are.”
