Finally the Varsity Coach Sue Allen presented the awards for the varsity players. Each received certificates of participation and a varsity letter and/or pin. Lettering for the first time was Lacie Harris who received a letter and pin. Next came the players that have already lettered in another sport but were lettering in volleyball for the first time and received the volleyball pin: Lindsey Burnam, Katie Burnam, Jhelecia Hawkins, Courtney Bibby, Kendall Newsome and Mary-Hannah Gaver. The next group of players had already lettered in volleyball in the past and received certificates and pins: Tashea Seymore (second year), Robbielynn Roberson (second year) and Katie Allen (fourth year). Trophies were presented to: Most Improved Player – Jhelecia Hawkins; Trojan Spirit Award – Tashea Seymore; Best Defensive Player/Most DIGS (with 182 DIGS) – Katie Allen; Best Server (with 90% accuracy, scoring 195 points with 48 aces) – Mary-Hannah Gaver; and Most Kills (163 kills) – Robbielynn Roberson. The Academic Award for the varsity team can not be presented until December because half of the team is taking college (Dual Enrollment Classes) and those grades aren’t posted until the end of the semester.
Door prizes were given out, and a good time was had by all. The coaches and players are looking forward to a great season next year.
