VALDOSTA — Trus Joist, a well-known Weyerhauser Company subsidiary, recently transformed its operation and renamed it iLevel.

The new name signifies the consolidation of five separate residential wood products operations into a new, integrated business — iLevel by Weyerhaeuser. Established Weyerhaeuser products and services for home framing construction, Trus Joist, Structurwood, plywood, lumber and distribution, are now part of iLevel. Standard lumber will continue to be offered under the Weyerhaeuser brand name. Together, these businesses represent more than one-third of Weyerhaeuser’s $22.6 billion in companywide revenue.

The name iLevel represents a new way of doing business within the residential structural frame industry, combining Weyerhaeuser’s high-quality proprietary products and services with a leading distribution network and innovate design software tools. The new integrated approach results in a unified solution for residential builders and dealers.

In addition to adding value to builders and dealers in Georgia, the new integrated business is an example of Weyerhaeuser’s citizenship in Valdosta. The creation of iLevel does not call for any job lay-offs or facility closures,

“The Valdosta area is very important to iLevel,” said Tom Booker, Southeast region

manager for iLevel representative. “The iLevel facility located here and our Valdosta employees help keep this a vibrant area for the wood products industry.”

Using iLevel, builders can walk into dealer locations with architectural plans and walk out with a robust and integrated solution for the home. This approach represents iLevel’s commitment to help improve each builder’s business, from reducing time needed for installation and construction to increasing profitability with value-adding products.

Additionally, iLevel delivers value by working with its dealers via strategic sales representatives to coordinate resources with the expertise and knowledge to answer questions and provide custom design support for home structures.

“Weyerhaeuser is ideally positioned to adapt to the new realities of the building industry because of our scalability; industry-leading products, technology and manufacturing capabilities; and our expertise of serving customers,” said Lee Alford, senior vice president of Residential Wood Products for Weyerhaeuser.

Kurt Liebich, Weyerhaeuser vice president of marketing, added: “As the homebuilding market changes and competition increases, providing dependable on-site technical support along with consistent products and high-quality services is paramount for success. And, iLevel provides solutions for a broad range of builders, from national and regional players to smaller, custom homebuilders.”

iLevel employs about 300 people in the Lowndes County area, and Weyerhaeuser is an active part of the Valdosta community. The company and its employees participate with the area schools, Habitat for Humanity and many other organizations in the area.

Weyerhaeuser’s Georgia operations that are now part of iLevel include: the Valdosta facility, which produces TJI joists, with Microllam laminated veneer flanges, used in Frameworks building systems and marketed in North America and Europe as well as the Colbert, Ga., iLevel operation, which produces Parallam parallel strand lumber used in ridge beams and door and window headers.

Weyerhaeuser employs 1,600 men and women in Georgia. Other operations include a building materials distribution center in Atlanta, specialty packaging products facility in Tucker, an engineered wood sales office in Duluth, containerboard packaging facilities in Griffin, Lithonia, and Columbus, cellulose fiber mills in Oglethorpe and Port Wentworth, a real estate business in Madison and a seed orchard in Lyons.
