- Dean Poling | The Valdosta Daily TimesAlijah Patterson, Samantha Kassum and David Bass will perform songs from the musical 'Into the Woods' as part of Valdosta High School Theatre Fall Cabarert Dinner Theatre.
VALDOSTA – Brittany Goodman cannot recall seeing so many people on the stage for a Valdosta High School Theatre production.
The VHS senior said more than 30 students are involved in the 2017 Fall Cabaret Dinner Theatre scheduled to play this week and next week.
Goodman is performing a song from the musical comedy “Nunsense.”
Other students are performing songs from other musicals.
Raquel Goddard will sing a song from “Guys and Dolls.”
Samantha Kassum plays Red Riding Hood and will sing a song from “Into the Woods.” Alijah Patterson and David Bass also sing a song from “Into the Woods.”
Ricardo Ipina, VHS Theatre director, tried matching songs to fit each student’s talent.
Ipina said the increase in students is mostly from an influx of juniors. The show includes students from his after-school group and the advanced drama class.
The cabaret serves as the first production of the VHS season but it traditionally allows Ipina the chance to gauge the upcoming season. He can select shows for later in the season based on student interest and student talent.
The show is a dinner theatre. The menu is garden salad, roll, chicken alfredo with a side of green beans, sweet / unsweet tea, water, dessert. Advanced reservations are required.
