NASHVILLE — Shop Small is a nationwide movement to celebrate small businesses every day and to help communities thrive.

Created by American Express in 2010, Small Business Saturday is the cornerstone of American Express Shop Small efforts. Shop Small Saturday is Nov. 25 which is the Saturday after Thanksgiving, according to a press release from the Nashville-Berrien County Chamber of Commerce.

“While Small Business Saturday is highlighted as a special day when we can show our support for small business owners and our community, the Berrien chamber encourages local shopping year-round through its Buy Berrien campaign,” said Faye Jernigan, chairman of the Berrien County Chamber of Commerce board of directors. “As the owner of a small family-owned business, we pride ourselves on offering superb customer service and personal attention you won’t find in a big-box environment. I encourage you to give the local retailers a look before you shop out of town.”

Many Berrien County businesses will be open on Saturday, Nov. 25.

The Berrien County Chamber of Commerce and Nashville Main Street are partnering to offer an incentive for Shop Small Saturday shoppers in Berrien County, according to the press release.
