VALDOSTA — Birdie’s Market has reopened downtown following a month and a half closure to repair structural damage. Manager Natasha Fast said the business seized the opportunity to renovate the restaurant as well.

“We opened the space up and now have additional seating and a brand-new menu,” Fast said.

The Market also features new items such as flavored vinegars which customers can use to make their own home-made vinaigrettes. Fast said the business is going to focus on events such as Wine Wednesday where customers can do wine tastings and learn what wines to pair with what foods.

Cooking classes will continue to be offered teaching how to make pasta from scratch, for instance. Executive Chef Matthew Russ said staff used the time during the closure to tweak the menu a little.

“We still have our classics and fan favorites, but we’ve also added some new items. We are really excited about our new made-from-scratch biscuits,” Russ said.

One item he mentioned was a sausage biscuit made with local Sunset Farms sausage and a tomato, bacon jam.
