VALDOSTA — Wild Adventures Theme Park will be full of crawling critters, ranging from tiny to 50-feet tall, starting in the 2018 season.
MEGABUGS! Adventure Encounters will open March 10, for a limited time throughout the season, according to a Wild Adventures press release.
MEGABUGS! is an immersive and interactive area with more than 70 exhibits of larger-than-life insects, such as a 15-foot emperor dragonfly, a 26-foot hissing cockroach and a 50-foot madagascan fire millipede.
Molly Deese, vice president and general manager of Wild Adventures, said the park is constantly working to improve guest experiences, citing the Ohana Bay expansion of the waterpark in 2017 as an example.
“Now, in 2018, we are excited to announce the addition of a new themed area (MEGABUGS!),” Deese stated.
The expansion will also feature bees, butterflies and ladybugs. According to Wild Adventures, the exhibits will showcase the unique sounds and movements of the insects.
Guests will be able to crawl like a spider, fly like a bee and dig like an ant while interacting with colossal bugs, the release stated.
On the “savory” side, Wild Adventures will offer roasted crickets in five different flavors. The park is giving away a free T-shirt and free park admission to the first 100 people who eat a cricket Saturday, Dec. 16.
Wild Adventures is located at 3766 Old Clyattville Road. It will remain open through Dec. 31, closing for Dec. 24-25.
