Parents and children were dressed in a variety of costumes in downtown Live Oak. There were carnival activities like Hi Striker, bouncy castles, face painting and $2,500 worth of free candy.

Williams said the budget for candy is $2,500 but the candy was bought when it was buy one, get one so he couldn’t venture to guess how many pounds of candy was handed out.

Williams also wanted to thank Walt’s Live Oak Ford, Wes Haney Chevrolet, Economy Motors and Sunbelt Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram for their donations to purchase additional candy.

The carnival was open to the public.

Mystic Jungle brought a variety of animals for the children to pet including a wolf, snakes and an alligator.

Shenandoah Dairy had calves present for the children to pet as well.

The Live Oak Fire Department let children sit inside a fire engine.

Heritage Park and Gardens staff were on hand selling hot dogs and drinks.

The Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office brought a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle for kids to sit inside.

“This was the best one yet,” Williams said. “This event has just grown since Live Oak Police Department started it.”
