“We’re just looking for, No. 1, the best possible fit for our community,” Nix said Monday. “Somebody that’s going to be involved in our community, and be, ideally, we’d love to have somebody that actually lives here…”
In his two seasons as head coach, Cribb led the Rebels to the postseason each year, finishing 4-6 and 4-7 respectively.
It was the first time Berrien has made two consecutive playoff appearances since the 1992 and 1993 seasons.
Cribb, an assistant on four Lowndes state championship teams, couldn’t be reached for comment.
Now, Berrien will look to fill its coaching vacancy and snap a streak of 22 straight seasons without a winning record.
The Rebels’ next head coach is set to receive a lot of support in their attempt to turnaround the football program.

“We’re building a brand-new stadium, we’re getting a new field house, new facility, so this is an exciting time for our program and our community,” Nix said. “We just want to try to find the best fit for that.”
