As Valdosta grows, businesses open, move, renovate and close down. The following is a list of recent business happenings in Lowndes County and the surrounding area.

While Downtown Valdosta is a great place to shop, don’t forget about businesses in Hahira and Lake Park. These business may not be a one-stop shopping spot but they may carry items or products that cannot be found in big box stores or online.

VALDOSTA

• The Dough Jo Cookie Dough Co., 1650 Baytree Road. Suite E., opened Nov. 24. It is open noon-8 p.m Monday through Thursday and noon-9 p.m. Saturday. The business specializes in edible cookie dough and other desserts.

• CJ’s Pub and Pool,1201 Baytree Drive, has a sign up saying it is taking applications and a painter has been seen re-painting the sign by the road.

• Ink & Cotton, 600 N. Patterson St., opened Nov. 6. The business does screenprinting and embroidery, 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, but is planning to extend hours to include Saturday by Thanksgiving. For more information, (229) 262-2985.

• Aqua-Term, 1809 Plum St., Remerton, will be moving to 612 Baytree Road Dec. 1. The business is a pest-control and termite company. The business is open 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call (229) 671-1222.

• Nationwide Construction & Associates, 711 E. Magnolia St., opened Nov. 6. The business focuses on remodeling, roofing, stone, stucco and plastering. The business is open 8 a.m-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call (229) 269-1043.

• Winnersville Motors, 901 N. Ashley St., opened Nov. 6. The business sells gently used cars. The business is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. For more information, call (229) 333-0318.

• Lash Lifts By Allison, 223 N. Ashley St., Suite 308, opened Nov. 13. The business does eyelash lifts and tinting. For more information, (912) 584-0093.

• Book and Table, 120 N. Patterson St., is currently under construction and has suspended its lunch operations in the meantime. However, the book portion of the restaurant is still operating.

• The old Rutland’s Music building, 2541 Bemiss Road, is being remodeled. Part of the building has been repainted green and the building permit outside lists the business as a liquor store with a drive through. The store is anticipated to be open around Thanksgiving.

• Wendy’s, 1609 N. Ashley St., is under construction and has the facade for the outside walls of the building set up.

• Zacadoo’s, 1501 N. Ashley St., is remodeling inside; the drive-through has been remodeled and is expected to be completed by Dec. 1.
