MOULTRIE, Ga. A Pelham woman’s days of commuting between Colquitt and Mitchell counties is over, apparently, as she is in jail facing charges of stealing cars in each and driving them to the other.
Police say that she also escaped from a mental health treatment facility in Moultrie where she was taken after her initial arrest on Jan. 18 after she was found in a car parked on a Colquitt County roadway.
Then on Monday, the suspect, Christina Henry, was arrested again in Pelham in a car reported stolen in Moultrie the same day.
At about 4:39 a.m. Monday,Moultrie police responded to a report of a stolen car at Colquitt Regional Dialysis Center, where Kathy Weeks reported that her 2003 Cadillac Escalade had been taken.
“She was getting out of her vehicle when a white female approached and demanded the keys to the car,” Moultrie police Lt. Freddie Williams said. “She said the world was ending and demanded the keys.”
Prior to that, Henry had escaped from the nearby Turning Point Center on Veterans Parkway South.
“She was able to escape from Turning Point by getting a set of keys from a staff member,” Williams said.
Pelham police arrested Henry when she returned there.
Moultrie police charged Henry, 35, with theft by taking motor vehicle.
In Pelham, Henry is accused of stealing an idling car at a gas station on Jan. 18.
The 1999 Honda Accord was found parked in the middle of Highway 133 in Colquitt County with Henry inside, said Pelham police Capt. Adam Lamb.
She was charged with theft by taking motor vehicle and driving with suspended license in that incident.
Henry remained jailed in Mitchell County.
