Coach’s Corner

Branford High Varsity Baseball hosted Lafayette Mayo on Tuesday night.

Mayo started out hot scoring 5 runs in the top half of the first inning.

The Hornets did not score again until the top of the fifth inning by way of a home run from their second baseman Chase Walker. Branford bats struggled all game long, only mustering 4 hits on the ball game. Two of the four hits came from the bat of Dusty Lee , while seniors Tyler Byrd and Ryan Mckenzie added a single each for the Bucs. The Mayo pitcher really kept our hitters off balance. He was getting his fast ball over on us early and had us down in the count far too often. Our hitters then had to hit his breaking pitch which we struggled to get accomplished. After the first inning we never really seemed to recover.
