Home runs, big third lift Charlton County past Clinch County

A home run by Charlton County’s Cole Giddens and a grand slam by Tyler Chesser lifted the Charlton County Indians to a 13-2 victory against the Clinch County Panthers in Folkston on Tuesday night.
The game was scoreless before the Indians’ turn at bat in the third inning.
Giddens launched a solo homer across right field to put Charlton on the board before the Indians plated a pair of runs on singles to make it 3-0.
Chesser blasted a grand slam across center field to increase the lead to 7-0 with one out in play.
The Indians scored additional runs during the frame on a single and two errors.
Laneston Hendricks gave Clinch a point on a sacrifice bunt in the fourth. Thomas Lankford scored for the Panthers. Brence Cason scored on a passed ball for the team’s other run.
Lankford accounted for the Panthers’ lone hit.
Duncan Lutz lasted 2 1/3 innings for the team from Homerville. He surrendered seven hits for nine runs with one strikeout and one walk. Landon Howling allowed two hits for four runs with a strikeout and two walks in 1 2/3 innings of relief.
Jack Gowen tossed five innings for the Indians, allowing one hit for two runs with eight strikeouts and one walk.
Giddens led Charlton with three hits, three RBIs and scored three runs. Chesser finished with two hits, four RBIs and scored a run. Trevor Knowles had two RBIs.
Clinch has a quick turnaround, traveling back to Homerville to host McIntosh County Academy at 5:30 p.m. today.
