Devante Dudley, 23, is charged with possession of marijuana, obstruction of a law enforcement officer and reckless conduct.

This case is still active and further charges may be forthcoming, the report states.

Around 8:27 p.m. Wednesday, multiple residents living in the Park Chase Apartment Complex, 1100 Old Statenville Road, called 911 requesting assistance from the VPD. The residents told police three male subjects were firing firearms illegally in the parking lot of the apartment complex, according to police.

Multiple VPD officers responded to the area to assist in looking for the subjects, according to the report.

When police arrived, residents told officers they saw the individuals take off on foot. Police set up a perimeter and a K-9 unit was used to track the subjects.

Within minutes, two of the suspects were located near Sharper Circle and Morningside Drive, the report states. Both were detained and questioned.

According to VPD, the two suspects that were taken into custody were found to be in possession of two firearms, one of which had been reported stolen out of Hamilton County, Fla., and more than seven grams of marijuana, which was packaged for distribution.

Following their investigation, officers reported the suspects were under the influence of unknown intoxicants and were firing weapons in the densely populated apartment complex, the report states.

Both suspects were taken into custody and taken to the Lowndes County Jail.

The third suspect is not in custody at this point.

“The Valdosta Police Department is grateful for the cooperation of the residents of Park Chase who came forward and not only called 911 during the incident but came forward and assisted officers in identifying the offenders before anyone could be hurt by their actions,” said Lt. Adam Bembry.
