Sapp named LOPD victims advocate

Ta-Trease Sapp has been name the new victims advocate. 

LIVE OAK — The Live Oak Police Department welcomed a new victims advocate this month.

Ta-Trease Sapp was named the new victims advocate on March 6.

Prior to accepting the position, Sapp worked At RIVEROAK Technical College helping students earn their GED.

“I have been with the school for 11 years and I really wanted to put my degree to use,” Sapp said. 

Sapp had a bachelor’s degree in human services and the master’s in health care management.

When the position was presented to Sapp, she said she thought about it and prayed about it before applying. 

“It will be something different and something challenging,” Sapp said. 

As a victims advocate, Sapp will help provide victims with resources to recover. This could include attending court with them or referring them to different organizations for service.

“I want to help people get through some of their difficult times,” Sapp said. 

“I have known Ta-Trease for many years and I feel like she will be an asset to the Live Oak Police Department and the City of Live Oak,” Chief Buddy Williams said. “She is motivated, dedicated and we are looking forward to a great future together.”
