VALDOSTA — As part of the American Red Cross Missing Type campaign, a blood drive will be held 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21 at the Valdosta State University Student Union Ballroom.

The event will be hosted by VSU’s Lady Blazer softball team and will benefit the Red Cross.

Organizers are asking for blood types A, B and O. O is the most needed, according to Terri Jenkins, regional executive director. Jenkins is hoping for 125 units.

“There is still a critical need for blood donations this summer. If you are eligible, please consider giving the ‘Gift of Life,’” she said. “If you are unable to go to the campus, the blood donor center on Bemiss Road is open every day.”

Anyone interested in donating can register in advance at redcrossblood.org/rapidpass to complete pre-donation reading and health history questions the day of the event, according to organizers.
