- Two people have died from this wreck on I-75 in Whitfield County Thursday afternoon, officials said.
DALTON, Ga. — Whitfield County Coroner Greg Bates has released the name of the second man who died as a result of a three-vehicle wreck on I-75 near Walnut Avenue Thursday afternoon.
He said the man was William Clegg, 36.
Bates said Clegg’s license has an Adairsville address, but that does not appear to be the correct address. He says that is not uncommon when someone has moved recently.
Clegg was one of two individuals taken to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga after the wreck.
A third person — Cody Angel, 23, from Rydal in Bartow County — was pronounced dead at the scene.
The wreck involved a semi, a landscaping truck and a pickup truck, said Cpl. E. Tommy Bonaparte with the Georgia State Patrol.
“Everybody who was hurt was in the landscaping truck,” Bonaparte said. “The wreck occurred southbound. But it ended up over the guardrail blocking the northbound side.”
The words “Landscape Associates” were visible on the side of one of the trucks. Attempts to reach officials with that company have been unsuccessful.
