- Batman No. 50
They didn’t do it.
But man what a sweet run.
Batman and Catwoman were rumored to marry in issue No. 50.
Even on the cover, above the Batman logo, were emblazoned the words “The Wedding,” all caps, bold, italicized.
They don’t do it but the romance between Batman and Catwoman, a.k.a. Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle, will continue for years to come.
Batman and Catwoman have had a certain chemistry for decades, since the earliest days of Batman comics.
She was unnamed when first introduced in the 1940s as The Cat.
She has been played by numerous actresses in television and the movies: Julie Newmar, Lee Meriwether, Eartha Kitt, Michele Pfeiffer, Anne Hathaway, etc.
In some cases, depending on the creative team, Batman and Catwoman have not known one another’s identities, other times they have; sometimes, Catwoman is a villain; sometimes, a hero; sometimes, both; sometimes, a Batman adversary; sometimes, a Batman ally; sometimes, his lover; sometimes, not.
Married or not, Batman No. 50 is worth finding for any Batman fan. Or Catwoman fan.
It is a relation that may not lead to wedding vows but the Bat-Cat relationship will undoubtedly continue.
