MADISON, Fla. — A Valdosta man drowned at Cherry Lake during the weekend, according to authorities.

The incident happened at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday, authorities said. 

The body of a man believed to be in his late 40s was recovered at approximately 11 a.m. Monday, Lowndes County Sheriff Ashley Paulk said.

Paulk said the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office has been working closely with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office on the case.

The person’s name will not be released until the family is notified, Paulk said.
