SHS girls win Bradford Cross Country Invitational; Cruz leads SHS boys

Suwannee took first place at the Bradford Invitational. 

STARKE — The Suwannee girls cross country team ran through mud, puddles and some less than ideal conditions to win the Bradford Invitational on Saturday.  

Suwannee topped Eastside, First Christian Academy and Bradford High. Freshman Nellie Lamb had the best time for SHS, finishing in 28:07 to take sixth place out of 50 runners.   

Courtney Sasso (28:39) finished seventh and Emelia Rodriguez (28:40) was eighth. Luna Rodriguez (30:58) was 13th and Merlin Leal (31:26) was 15th. 

Camryn Williams of Keystone Heights was the overall winner in the girls competition with a time of 25:08.

The SHS boys team came in third place out of eight teams. Eastside took first.

Senior Ricardo Cruz (21:25) was the top finisher for Suwannee, placing sixth out of 73 runners. Keystone Heights’ Alex Guy came in first with a time of 19:40.

The Bulldogs had six runners place in the top 20. Cruz, Jorge Soto (22:36), Kobe Hudson (22:45), Timothy Jolicoeur (22:54), Xander Kirkland (23:13) and Herman Gunter (23:26) were Suwannee’s top runners.
