VSU was awarded a free kick 3 minutes into the match. Taylor took the kick from 30 yards out and it bounced off Bucs goalkeeper Riley Chafin, who miss-timed her jump. The ball flew over her head and into the net for a 1-0 lead.

Tennant received a pass Lauren Hicks and beat Chafin, scoring her sixth goal of the season and giving the Blazers a 2-0 lead at the 24:57 mark.

The Bucs pressed more in the second half and both sides had shots off the crossbar and post during the half.

Christian Brothers’ Bobbie Willis had a great look at 67:04, but VSU goalkeeper Caroline Embler made the save. McDaniel blasted a shot off the crossbar and later had a header saved by Chafin. The Bucs had a shot blocked and another saved by Embler late in the match.

VSU had 8 of 15 shots on frame, while the Bucs had 5 of 9 shots on-goal.

Chafin made six saves and two goal against, while Embler had five saves and posted her fourth shutout of the season. McDaniel had a team-high four shots for the Blazers with two on frame. Tennant had three shots, with one on-goal and the second score of the match. Taylor converted her only attempt.

The Blazers tied their win total from last season with their 10th win.

VSU was sitting outside the top eight in the first rankings, but with two losses by the Bucs and two wins by the Blazers, VSU might move into the top eight in the next rankings, which are scheduled to be released by the NCAA on Wednesday afternoon.

VSU closes the regular season at Shorter on Thursday before visiting Lee on Saturday.
