VALDOSTA — Victory Christian School has lots of festivities planned for the community during an upcoming fundraiser.
The fundraiser will be held at 8 a.m.-2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 12, and Saturday, Oct. 13, at Victory Baptist Church. Proceeds will benefit the church’s philanthropic efforts. This is the second year for the event.
Barbecue pork plates will be sold for $10 on both days. Each plate will have a sandwich, dessert, chips, pickles and bottled water.
If businesses purchase plates of 20 or more, church members will deliver them Saturday, Pastor Steve Ward said.
A yard and vendor sale will be held on both days along with a car wash.
A new addition to the fundraiser is a 5K FunDrun, which will commence 7:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 13 at the church’s campus. Registration is $20.
Bottled water and snacks will be available to participants and awards will be given to the top three performers in the six age divisions, said Marie Dukes, administrative assistant.
Participants are being accepted until the morning of Oct. 13 for a car show, which will feature a range of vehicles including monster trucks and a Batmobile. Guests will vote on the winner.

The Marksmen Quartet, a bluegrass band from Murrayville will perform live, he said.
With this fundraiser, Victory raised $10,000 last year and is hoping to hit that target once more.
“For a number of years, we’ve been contributing to a lot of youth organizations,” Ward said.
Victory has given to Clyattville Elementary for the school’s Christmas awards, Lanier County Parks and Recreation for playground improvement and to orphanages in Venezuela, organizers said.
“We are a ministry of school and church so I feel like we have important part in the community not just in spreading the Gospel but also in letting people in the community know that we have things to offer children,” Dukes said.
She said the community has shown an interest in helping Victory help ministries.
“Our church participates in so many different ministries, and we found that people in the community were wanting to help us give back to those ministries that we give to,” she said.
