Valwood softball players earn all-region honors

Seven Valwood softball players were recognized for their outstanding 2018 season with GISA Region 3-3A honors.
Seniors Ansley Haskard, Emily Taylor, junior Natalie Rojas, sophomores Darcee Brown, Brianna Fosdick, Mary Clare Martin and eighth-grader Graceigh Booth were awarded all-region honors.

“I could not be more proud of this team and their dedication to the game. They showed tremendous growth this year and I cannot wait to see what next year holds,” coach Courtney Carter said.
Brown was awarded Region 3-3A Player of the Year. Brown finished the season with a .388 batting average and she allowed only one earned run in region play.
Juniors Ansley Bennett and Lindsey Browning were honorable mentions.
The Valiants retained the Region 3-AAA championship for the second year in a row, and advanced to the second round of the GISA state playoffs. Their final season record was 14-6.
