A large enthusiastic crowd of well wishers braved the 100 degree temperature on Saturday, Aug. 26, for the official ground breaking of the Alms of Bethel Outreach Center, a ministry of Bethel of Mt. Sinai Holy Church, 357 SW Pine Street, Mayo.
Pastors Chester and Carolyn Demps were the first to break ground, followed by county and city officials, church officers, family and friends, all wearing their hard hats and proudly pushing their golden shovels into the earth.
Alms of Bethel Community Development, Inc. (ABCD) has been providing services to the community over the past four years. But now that the church is erecting a new facility, the vision is to provide many more outreach programs for families and children.
The projected completion date for the outreach center is January 2007. The church is soliciting financial donations and volunteer workers to help bring this project to completion.
Those wishing to contribute in any way to the effort may call Pastor Demps at (386) 294-1932 or (850) 584-4702 or (850) 838-9734.
