To help young people deal with the death of a loved one, she and illustrator Johnny Castanon developed and published the book “Death is Not the End” for teens and young adults.

Though it doesn’t say so in the title, the book seems appropriate for younger children, with adult guidance.

“Death is Not the End” has informative text based on Johnson’s insights and biblical passages.

It is also an activity book with puzzles and bold illustrations that can be used like a coloring book.

Johnson has Valdosta roots.

She is the daughter of Valdosta City Councilman Joseph “Sonny” Vickers. The oldest of four children, she attended Valdosta and Lowndes County schools. She attended Valdosta State.

In 1978, her mother, Jacqueline L. Vickers, died. The loss of her mother led to her career choice of caregiver.

And now she is an author of several books.
