The fight after the Lowndes-Valdosta football game was embarrassing. If the coaches tried as hard to make the players good young men as they do at winning, it would never have happened. The parents involved should be banned from all games. I am embarrassed to be a Viking.

I remember a post by a football fan who condemned the game of soccer as a sport that encourages violence and vandalism. Ironic, isn’t it?

It’s a shame that the Valdosta football program doesn’t have anything about their band in it. Those kids work just as hard as the football team.

The local YMCA does focus on weights and machines. You can use treadmills, racquetball courts, aerobics classes etc. It’s warm enough here to use the pools almost 10 months a year.

Valdosta and Lowndes both played well Friday night. Too bad the Lowndes students had to disgrace their school by taunting and mocking the Wildcat players as they were trying to walk to the end zone. I am not condoning the actions of the Cats, but to be honest I would have probably done the same thing.

Congratulations to the Lowndes Vikings. To the Lowndes students who provoked the fight, sorry, but you got what you deserved.

I’d rather be stopped by the train on Highway 84 for 20 or 30 minutes at a time, than to be stopped all the time for the 3 or 4 years it would take them to build an overpass. Why is everything in the world done 10 times faster than it used to be, except when it comes to highway construction? The ancient Romans could have finished the I-75 projects by now.

The attitude of Len Robbins about Georgia Bulldog football is another reason why Georgia lost to Vandy. It seems the only person that treats Georgia football seriously these days is Larry Munson.

Cal Thomas articles tell it like it is. His articles are good readings. Keep printing his articles.

No indoor pool in Valdosta; wrong. The Recreation Center at VSU has a year-round indoor pool. And contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to be a student to use this facility. Check out details on their Web site.

Concerning the column in Oct. 24 edition of the paper: what we are teaching these kids if they play high school football in Valdosta is that they are above the law. That is exactly what we are teaching them.

The ninth grade football game Valdosta vs. Lowndes originally scheduled this Thursday night has been canceled because of the incident after the Varsity game last week. The teams have been practicing since July only to have their last games defaulted due to the actions of a few. What was once the Winnersville Classic is now the Loserville Classic. How can we teach our children sportsmanship, when the parents haven’t learned it?

Why do disabled children get an income over $600 per month from Social Security? Children are not supposed to have an income. My child does not have an income, does yours? If there is a valid reason for these children to get an income, they should do it from some other source and leave Social Security to those who have worked for 30-plus years. We should provide healthcare, but not an income.
