John Benjamin Timothy

John Benjamin Timothy, 56, of Catawba Woods Ct., Belmont, N.C., died Oct. 26, 2006. Born May 10, 1950 in Valdosta, he was the son of Thomas Joseph and Johnnie Mae Williams Timothy of Summerville, S.C.

Mr. Timothy was a graduate of The College of Charleston, Charleston, S.C. with a BA degree. He was employed by Mohawk Industries as a Warehouse Operations Manager.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his brother, Robert T. “Bobby” Timothy of Chester, S.C.; sisters, Donna Reynolds of Mooresville, Maria Bush of Portland, Ore., Kathy Lickteig of Katy, Texas; maternal grandmother, Beulah M. Williams of Valdosta.

Funeral services will be held today, Oct. 28 at 5 p.m., at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel. The family will be receiving friends following the service.

Cleveland Candler Thomas

Cleveland Candler Thomas, 82, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006 in Gainesville, Fla.

Services will be held Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006 at 3 p.m. at Beggs Chapel in Madison, Fla. Interment will follow in Mt. Horeb Cemetery in Pinetta, Fla. Visitation will be held this evening, Oct. 28, 2006 at Beggs Funeral Home Madison Chapel in Madison, Fla. from 7-9 p.m.

Cleveland was born in Hall County, Georgia and moved to Madison in 1955. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and was employed for many years as a Sewing Machine Mechanic for Owens-Illinois and Market Bag Company. He was a member of the Midway Church of God in Lee, Fla. and active with the Senior Citizens. He loved his family and his Lord.

Cleveland is survived by his wife Annie Laura Thomas; five sons, Bill Thomas (Debra), Macclenny, Fla., Craig Thomas (Emma), Pinetta, Fla., Danny Thomas (Debra), Thomasville, Ray Thomas (Dale), Thomasville, Gordie Bass (Patricia), Madison, Fla.; one daughter, Sharon Roland (John), Greenville, Fla.; one brother, Haden Thomas (Wanda) Dahlonega, Ga.; and three sisters, Betty Owens (William), Dahlonega, Ga., Beatie Evans, Helen, Ga. and Elsie Brady, Dahlonega; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Dewey D. Petty

Dewey D. Petty‚ 70, of 454 Howard Circle in Stockton passed away Thursday night, Oct. 26, 2006 at his residence. He was born on July 18, 1936 in Lax, Ga. to the late William Gilmore Petty and Maude Broome Petty Harrison. He was preceded in death by his step father, Dan Harrison, two brothers, Grady Petty and Raymond Petty and two sisters, Lois Robinson and Geraldine Cox. He had lived at his current residence for the past four years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a retired painter by trade. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Mary V. Petty of Stockton; Son, Dewey Damon Petty, Stockton; three daughters, Susan M. McKever, Martha E. Delgado, Tonya L. Petty, all of Nashville; three sons in-law, Nicholas B. McKever, Nashville, Miguel Delgado, Miami, Fla., Peter Nelson, Nashville; brother and sister In-law, Andrew and Glenda Petty Naylor; sister in-law, Eva Petty, Quitman; sister, Athalee Troop, Atlanta; sister and brother- in-law, Margaret and Floyd Wagstaff, Mary Esther, Fla.; two grandsons, Brandon Michael and Austin Michael; four granddaughters, Amanda Lynn, Krista Michelle, Hailey Nichole, Danielle Suzanne, Alliyah Monique, Mary Annsyle; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. this evening in Lakeland, Ga. At the request of Mr. Petty, there will not be a formal funeral service. The body will later be cremated.

Roy C. Hathcock

Roy C. Hathcock, 83, of Valdosta died on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006 at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

Born in West, Mississippi on Dec. 22, 1922, he was the son of the late Ben C. and Lorene Thweatt Hathcock. He served with the United States Air Force and retired as Senior Master Sergeant. Mr. Hathcock was a member of Faith Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sara McCrary Hathcock; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark Pollard and Janice Hathcock of Gulfport, Miss., William John and Debbie Stailey of Valdosta; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Donnie Holcomb of Quitman; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Sarah Hathcock of Durant, Miss., sister and brother-in-law, Margie and Byron Gates of Felton, Tenn.; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Claude (J. R.) and Elouise McCrary of Brunswick, Talmadge Hendley of Valdosta; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006 at Faith Baptist Church in Valdosta with Pastor Gene Wisehart and Pastor Mickey Wisehart officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on this evening from 6-8 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
