Valdosta

Deacon Bobby Gene McCormick

Deacon Bobby Gene McCormick, 60, of Valdosta, died Aug. 8, 2007, at the V.A. Hospital in Lake City, Fla.

He was born Aug. 1, 1947, to the late Deacon Tom McCormick Sr. and the late Mrs. Alice Moss McCormick. He graduated from Westside High School and attended Georgia Military School. He was a faithful member of the River Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He served on the deacon board and was superintendent of Sunday School until his health failed.

He served seven years in the United States Army. He was the president of the post office union and A-1 Chapman. He was currently employed by the U.S. Postal Service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom McCormick Sr. and Alice McCormick; one brother, Larry McCormick; and an uncle, Amos McCormick.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving devoted wife, Annie Doris McCormick of Valdosta; a son, Terrance McCormic of Manhattan, New York; three daughters, Latunda Patterson of Valdosta, Angelia Seaton (Jonathan) of Tyler, Texas, and Tisha McCormick of Arlington, Texas; eight grandchildren, Qiana, Carlton, Devonte, Breunte, Breun, Berunyea, Shantyza and Marquis; a brother, Tom McCormick Jr. of Valdosta; a sister, Lillie Ann Hamilton (Howard) of Eupora, Miss.; an uncle, the Rev. Charlie McCormic (Pearlie) of Jacksonville, Fla.; an aunt, Mittie Pearl Russell of Valdosta; sisters-in-law, Dorothy McCormick of Miami, Fla., and Ernestine McCormick of Mobile, Ala.; special friends Jerry Freeman, Kentarius Cooper-K.T. and Bufford Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and caring friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, at River Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Culbreth, pastor, and the Rev. Edgard Roberts ofifciating. Interment will follow in Redland Cemetery. — Scott and Roberts Mortuary.

Noma Crosby

Noma Crosby, 72, of Adel passed away Aug. 10, 2007, at South Georgia Medical Center from battling cancer for 18 months.

She was born on April 19, 1935, in Cook County to the late Harmon Elliott and Gladys Dickerson Crosby. She lived in Cook County all of her life. She was a retired clerical secretary at a law firm and presently employed at Steel Building Systems. She had been a member of Antioch United Methodist Church since age 11.

She is survived by one brother, Frank Crosby of Adel; four sisters, Mary Lou C. Mixon, Adel, Carolyn C. Noles, Perry, Fla., Hilda C. Rice, Adel, Annette C. Norman, Norman Park, Ga.; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Harmon Elliott Crosby Jr., and one sister, Freddie Carol Crosby.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, at 4 p.m. at Antioch United Methodist Church with the Rev. Randy Mosley and the Rev. Lynn Hurley officiating. Interment will be held in Antioch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home on South 41. — Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home, Adel.

Joe Crafton

Joe Crafton, 59, of Pinetta, Fla., passed away on Aug. 10, 2007, in Gainesville, Fla.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, at Beggs Funeral Home, Madison, Fla. Burial will follow in Mt. Horeb Cemetery, Pinetta, Fla. The family will receive friends at Beggs Chapel on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007 from 6-8 p.m.

Joe was born in Valdosta, Ga. on Oct. 20, 1947. He was a lifelong resident of Madison County. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a retired building contractor and former Madison County Commissioner in District II. He was a member of the Pinetta First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Crafton of Pinetta, Fla.; mother, Alice Davis Crafton, Pinetta, Fla.; two sons, Mark Land and wife Beth of Madison, Fla., and Jody Crafton of Pinetta, Fla.; special aunt, Dorothy Hubble of Madison, Fla.; two stepsons, Rufus (Lisa) Washington and Steve (Lindsey) Washington, all of Pinetta, Fla.; two sisters, Celia Jackson of Knoxville, Tenn. and Carolyn Zipperer of Pinetta, Fla. He was blessed with seven grandchildren, Tyler and Kendall Land, Abby and Luke Washington, Taylor Huggins, Megan Washington and Brock Crafton. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends. VALDOSTA

Mildred E. Blanton

Mildred E. Blanton, 83, of Valdosta died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007, at the Lakeland Villa Nursing Home in Lakeland. She was born in Berrien County on Oct. 12, 1923, to the late Walter B. and Ellie Nash Luke and was a lifelong resident of this area. Mrs. Blanton was retired from the grocery business and active with the Ray City Senior Citizens. She was a member of the Springhill Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Elaine Buchanan of Valdosta and Shara Ann (Sherry) Haire of Nashville; one son, Lou Allen Blanton Jr. of Lake Park; 11 grandchildren, Ed Dees, Letitia Baker, Clint D. Buchanan, Larry McCain Jr., Tammy McCain Bryant, Brandi McCain Wynn, Dana Landa, Leighann Hage, Felisha Spells, Luke Blanton and Walker Blanton; 13-great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Claude Luke and Hulon Luke both of Valdosta; two sisters, Bernice Clingan of Hamilton, Ala. and Myrtice Ivey of Atlanta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lou Allen Blanton, Sr., son-in-law, Clinton Buchanan, Sr.; three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Elder Thad Marshall and Elder Tony Marshall officiating. Mr. James Mitchell Sr., 86, of 2411 Patrick Pl., passed away on Friday, Aug. 3, 2007, at South Georgia Medical Center. Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. at the Southland Church, the Rev.
