Georgia Forestry Association to meet in Valdosta

VALDOSTA — The Georgia Forestry Association will host a regional meeting in Valdosta on Tuesday, Aug. 7, with Alan Dozier, chief of Forest Protection with the Georgia Forestry Commission, reporting on the recent unprecedented 2007 fire season.
Dr. Brooks Mendell, principal of Forisk Consulting, will also give a presentation on “Timber Markets after a Forest Fire: Impacts on Logging, Prices and Mills.”
The Georgia Forestry welcomes any forest stakeholder in the area to attend the meeting, scheduled for 6 p.m. Aug. 7 at the Ravine Grill and Dinnerhouse at Kinderlou Forest. Anyone interested in attending is asked to RSVP to Tim Lowrimore of the GFA at tim@gfagrow.org or by calling 478-992-8110.
