DALTON, Ga. — The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a hit and run early Sunday morning in Whitfield County that left a Calhoun man dead.

A trooper was dispatched to the intersection of State Route 3 (the Dalton Bypass) and Maddox Chapel Road to a report of a pedestrian being struck at about 1:20 a.m., according to a GSP public information officer. The spokesman said the trooper determined the crash involved a single vehicle that left the scene, a Buick sedan traveling north on State Route 3.

The deceased was identified as Emory Ware, 18.

The GSP’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating the accident.
