Johnson named Turner football coach

ASHBURN – Turner County is soon to have a new head football coach.
Athletic director Chris Wade announced Monday night that Kevious Johnson had been hired for the position.
Johnson has been offensive coordinator at Coffee. A Fitzgerald native, he played collegiately at Wofford (SC).
“He came highly recommended from everyone I talked to,” said Wade. “He fits all the criteria we’re looking for.”
Coffee went 9-4 in 2019, advancing to the quarterfinals of the Class AAAAAA state tournament. The offense was especially productive, scoring at a rate of 33 points per game.
Johnson will succeed Nick Hayes to the position. Hayes went went 7-5 in his lone year at the helm.
