Dorothy C. Dowling Batten
VALDOSTA — Dorothy C. Dowling Batten, 84, of Valdosta, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at South Georgia Medical Center. Born in Knoxville to the late Tom and Minnie Dowling, she had lived in Knoxville, Tenn., before moving to Valdosta five years ago. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Knoxville, Tenn.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Terry Batten of Dover, Del., Bob and Lawanna Batten of Valdosta; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Batten was preceded in death by her husband, John Batten; and several brothers and sisters.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2005, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Knoxville, Tenn. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Knoxville, Tenn. The family will receive friends at Rose Mortuary Mann Memorial Chapel in Knoxville, Tenn., on Friday from 6-7:30 p.m. There will be a prayer service at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. following the visitation. Dee Ann Chaney
LUBBOCK, Texas — Dee Ann Chaney of Lubbock, Texas was born on April 16, 1948, in Amarillo, Texas. She passed away at Covenant Medical Hospital on Tuesday, March 8, 2005, after a long term illness.
She is survived by her mother, Jeri Hendrix of Lubbock; three children, Brent Chaney (Christy Chaney), Kilia McLeod (Chad McLeod), Shannon Chaney (Holley Chaney), all of Lake Park; six grandchildren, Amanda Woodard, Racheal Woodard, Gareth Chaney, Caleb McLeod, Weston McLeod, Ginna Chaney, all of Lake Park; two sisters, Jayle Davis, Mesquite, Texas, Jill Davis, Lubbock, Texas; and one brother, Mike Sissons of Dicksons, Texas.

Wayne C. Kenney
LAKE PARK — Wayne C. Kenney, 71, of Lake Park, died on March 8, 2005, at his residence. Born on March 8, 1933, in Lincoln, Ohio, he was the son of the late Otis and Violet Anguish Kenney. He was the retired owner of Fixture Warehouse. Mr. Kenney was of the Christian faith.
Survivors are three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Barb Kenney of Valdosta, Robert and Glenna Kenney of Lake Park, Charles and Lisa Kenney of Flower Mountain, Texas; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Carl Kenney of Newark, Ohio and a special friend, Brenda Amos of Lafayette, Ga.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 11, 2005, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Phil West officiating. William Newsome Wilson
HOMERVILLE — William Newsome Wilson, 87, of Homerville passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2005, in the Louis Smith Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
A native of Atkinson County, he had lived in Clinch County most of his life, was a farmer and a member of Homerville Free Will Baptist Church. He was the son of the late William M. Sr. and Mary Corbitt Wilson, and the widower of Mary Mizell Wilson.
Survivors are two sons, Lucious Wilson of Valdosta, Fred G. Wilson of Silver Springs, Fla.; one sister, Marilu W. Hinson of Homerville; two brothers, W.M. Wilson Jr. and Martin Wilson, both of Homerville; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several other relatives.
Services for Mr. Wilson will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 11, 2005, at Homerville Free Will Baptist Church. Interment will be in Lang Cemetery.
Mr. Wilson will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. this evening. Mr. Wilson will be carried to the church one hour prior to the services. Helen Young Bates Wright, 87, of Valdosta died on Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at the Glenmoor Health Center in St. Augustine, Fla., where she had lived for the past three years. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 11, 2005, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. James Trice officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
