Bobby Lamar Plymale

Bobby Lamar Plymale, radio personality “Dickie Shannon,” 60, husband of Julie Plymale of Martinez, entered into rest Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at University Hospital.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 20, 2007, at First Baptist Church of North Augusta with Dr. Roy Head officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Mr. Plymale was a radio announcer for Beasley Broadcasting.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Carla Elizabeth Plymale of Atlanta; his mother, Ruby Wade Plymale of Quitman; a sister, Carol Shirley of Quitman; mother-in-law, Martha Kendall, Belvedere, S.C.; two nieces and three nephews.

Ouida Carter

Ouida Carter, 82, of Nashville passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at her residence.

She was born on Oct. 6, 1924, in Berrien County to the late Elbert and Maxine Harper Nix. She was a homemaker, retired teller, cashier with the Citizen’s Bank and member of Nashville First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Edwin Wilson and J.W. Carter.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Pat (Larry) Jackson, St. Augustine, Fla.; two grandchildren, Joe Ed Jackson, Valdosta, LeAnn Chaney, Nashville; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Juanelle Haskins, Mary Beth Harris, Sue Powell, all of Nashville; three brothers, Hank Nix, Bobby Nix, Russell, all of Nashville.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 21, 2007, at Nashville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Southerland, the Rev. Stan Nix and the Rev. Dan Nix officiating. Interment will be held in Westview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Friday. Cecil Allon ‘Sandy’ Sanders

Cecil Allon ”Sandy” Sanders, 76, of Valdosta passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born in Hartshorne, Okla., on April 18, 1930, to the late Thomas Allen and Pearl Gracie (Christian) Sanders. Mr. Sanders was in the U.S. Marines where he fought in the Korean War. He loved to play country music and to sing. He enjoyed life and making others happy. He was of the Mormon faith. He was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Keith Sanders.

Survivors include his fiancé, Louise Brite of Valdosta; son, Cecil Allon Sanders Jr., Roy, Utah; three daughters, Christilyn Sanders, Douglasville, Claudia Jean Sanders, San Bernardino, Calif., Cecilee Dione Poppell, Tallahassee, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three stepsons, Lenoard Paul Adams, Hyndman, Pa., William Lenoard Adams, Jamestown, N.D., Lawrence Carl Adams, Lynchburg, S.C.; seven stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; five sisters; two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 20, 2007, in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
